The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says its troops have arrested approximately 230 wanted individuals and seized more than 100 weapons during counterterrorism operations across the West Bank in recent months. According to a statement from the IDF spokesperson, soldiers carried out operational searches at more than 1,200 locations, one of which was described as a facility used for the production of explosive devices.
The Israeli outlet News.co.il reported the same figures and added that about 930 suspects were questioned during the activity, which it said took place at several focal points across the territory. The military framed the operations as part of an ongoing effort to prevent attacks rather than as a single named operation with a start and end date.

Israeli forces have carried out several raids across the occupied West Bank this morning, as Israeli settlers stormed a village in south Nablus to perform Talmudic rituals, reports the Palestinian news agency Wafa. 🔴 LIVE updates: aje.news/e45op5
What the IDF means by Judea and Samaria
The IDF statement uses the term Judea and Samaria, the Hebrew-language and official Israeli name for the territory internationally known as the West Bank. Israel captured the area from Jordan in the Six Day War and it has been under Israeli military administration since, with the Palestinian Authority exercising limited civil and security powers in parts of it under the Oslo framework. Israeli military activity there is run through regional brigades and divisions, and arrest raids in Palestinian cities, towns and refugee camps are a routine feature of that structure.
How this kind of announcement usually works
Periodic summaries of this type are a standard form of IDF communication. Rather than announcing a single raid, the military aggregates the results of weeks or months of activity across multiple locations into one set of figures: locations searched, suspects questioned, wanted individuals detained, weapons confiscated. The term "wanted individuals" refers to people the Israeli security establishment has listed for arrest, typically on suspicion of involvement in attacks, weapons offences or membership in armed factions. Being named as wanted is not the same as being charged, and the military statements do not usually say which of those detained were subsequently indicted or released.
The phrase the IDF uses for weapons, rendered in Hebrew as amtzaei lehima, covers a broad category of combat means: firearms, ammunition, and improvised weapons. The statement's reference to a facility for producing explosive devices points to improvised charges, which have featured in Israeli military descriptions of activity in the northern West Bank in particular, where locally assembled explosives have been reported as a tactic used against military vehicles and patrols.
Where the reports differ
The numbers are not presented identically across the reports. The IDF spokesperson gives approximately 230 wanted individuals apprehended and over 100 weapons confiscated. News.co.il carries the same headline figures and supplies the additional detail of roughly 930 suspects questioned. The Israeli broadcaster N12 reported the arrest figure as more than 200, and tied its item to footage it said showed activity by the Nahal Brigade in the territory. Nahal is one of the IDF's regular infantry brigades and is among the units regularly deployed on West Bank security duty.
The gap between "more than 200" and "approximately 230" is a matter of rounding rather than a contradiction, but the two formulations are not interchangeable and neither has been independently checked against military records. N12's framing also suggests a narrower focus, on one brigade's footage, while the IDF and News.co.il items describe activity across multiple locations.
Who released the figures, and what that means for them
All of the substance here originates with the Israeli military. The IDF spokesperson unit publishes operational summaries on its own channels, including Telegram, and Israeli news outlets frequently carry those summaries directly. That means the figures in this report are a military account of military activity, not an independently compiled tally. No Palestinian authority, human rights organisation or international body is cited in any of the three reports.
What the reports do not say
The material leaves a great deal open. It does not specify the exact period covered by "recent months", nor when the operations began or ended. It does not name the towns, cities or refugee camps where the searches took place, beyond the general reference to several focal points. It does not say where the facility for producing explosive devices was located, or whether anyone was detained in connection with it.
The reports give no breakdown of the weapons seized, no information on the factions or organisations the detainees are alleged to be connected to, and no detail on what became of those questioned but not arrested. There is no mention of casualties, injuries or damage on either side during the operations, and no indication of whether any of the raids drew armed resistance. Nor is there any Palestinian response to the figures in the material available.

איך בדקנו את זה
All figures originate with the IDF spokesperson and were carried by the Israeli outlets News.co.il and N12; N12's arrest figure of more than 200 differs slightly from the military's approximately 230. None of the claims has been independently verified, and no Palestinian or third-party account appears in the material.
