Tel Dan reserve fire contained after crews and aircraft halt spread

Israel's Fire and Rescue Services said the fire at the Tel Dan nature reserve is now in a containment phase, according to an alert published by Ynet.

N12 reported that firefighting teams were working at the site with the support of aircraft and had succeeded in halting the spread of the flames. The same report said extinguishing work would carry on through the night. N12 credited its photograph of the scene to Fire and Rescue Services.

The reports confirm that national firefighting crews reached the reserve after the request for assistance described earlier, and that aerial firefighting was used. Neither organisation gives the size of the area burned, the cause of the fire, or any casualty figure, and neither says when the reserve might reopen to visitors.
