Nvidia's board of directors has opened an independent review of chief executive and co-founder Jensen Huang, following reports that he had an extramarital relationship with a businesswoman alleged to have spied for China. Israel Hayom reported that the company says neither national security nor its own corporate secrets were put at risk, while US lawmakers are pressing for a congressional briefing on the possible dangers.

According to News.co.il, the woman is named Alice Huang. Jensen Huang has acknowledged being unfaithful to his wife and has apologised, and he will remain in charge of the company while the review runs. The Hebrew-language outlet noted that the news broke over a weekend, when Wall Street markets were closed.

What Huang and the board have said

The Israeli broadcaster N12, in posts by its correspondent Assaf Rosenzweig, reported that Huang sent a message to the company in which he admitted betraying his wife, said his conduct had hurt her and their children, offered no excuse and said he was deeply sorry. N12 said the message followed exposure of the affair by The New York Times. The wording reached us in Hebrew translation, so we are paraphrasing rather than quoting it.

The same N12 report described the board's position: it has no reason to believe that national security or Nvidia's own secrets were harmed, but its review will examine all the information available to it. The board also said Huang fully supports the review and has committed to cooperating with it. Israel Hayom, citing Reuters, also said the chief executive had pledged to work fully with the directors as their examination continues.

Accounts differ on the details

The reports do not line up on every point. On whom Huang told, N12 reported that he admitted the intimate relationship to Nvidia's board, while News.co.il said his admission was made to company employees. The two are not necessarily in conflict, since N12 also describes a message he sent to the company, but the outlets frame it differently.

The reports also describe Alice Huang in different terms. Israel Hayom calls her an alleged Chinese intelligence operative, and News.co.il says she was allegedly involved in espionage for China, according to published reports. N12 goes further, reporting that US intelligence had determined she was a Chinese spy and that intelligence monitoring showed she passed information directly to Beijing, which it said caused serious concern within the US administration. A Ynet news alert referred to her simply as a Chinese spy. None of the reports cites a public statement from US intelligence agencies, and the allegation against her has not been tested in any proceeding described in the material.

Why this matters beyond the company

Nvidia is a US technology company whose chips are central to the global race in artificial intelligence, and Huang, as co-founder and chief executive, is one of the most prominent figures in the industry. The Jerusalem Post carried the story on its business and innovation pages, with a photograph of Huang speaking at the Invest in Germany Summit in Berlin on October 19, 2026.

Advanced chips sit at the centre of technology competition between the United States and China, which is why any suggestion that a person allegedly working for Chinese intelligence had personal access to the head of such a company draws scrutiny in Washington. That is the context for the call from US lawmakers, reported by Israel Hayom, for a briefing to Congress so they can assess what risk, if any, the relationship posed.

For now, the board's message is one of continuity: Huang continues to run Nvidia, and the review proceeds alongside his day-to-day leadership.

What the reports do not say

  • Who is conducting the independent review on the board's behalf, how long it will take, and whether its findings will be made public.
  • Whether any US government body, Congress included, has agreed to the briefing lawmakers requested or responded publicly.
  • What evidence underlies the claim, reported by N12, that US intelligence identified Alice Huang as a spy, and whether she or anyone on her behalf has responded.
  • What, if any, information she had access to through the relationship.

איך בדקנו את זה

The review and Huang's apology were reported by Israel Hayom, N12, News.co.il, Ynet and The Jerusalem Post; the claim that US intelligence determined Alice Huang was a spy comes from N12 alone, and the call for a congressional briefing from Israel Hayom. We have not independently verified any of these accounts.
