The market, Old City, Acre

A traditional sweets shop in the market of Old Acre, founded in 1915 and run by the fourth generation of the Kashash family, that makes baklava and knafeh every morning

Kashash Sweets goes back to 1915, when Khayr Kashash began selling traditional peanut and sesame sweets from a cart; he later opened the business in Old Acre, where he began making knafeh and baklava as well. Four generations of the family work in it today, and according to the Western Galilee tourism site it makes 22 kinds of traditional Acre sweets on the spot every morning: baklava with pistachios, almonds, cashews or chocolate, and three kinds of knafeh, Nablus-style, red and natural. Visitors who arrange ahead can hear the history of the place and watch the sweets being made, and it sells gift boxes and hosting trays. The tourism site gives its hours as every day from 9:30 to 23:00.
