At the entrance to Alon HaGalil, on the right before the petrol station, Alon HaGalil

A family boutique winery, vineyard and apiary at the entrance to Alon HaGalil, with a log-cabin visitor centre, tastings of wine and honey and a coffee cart in a eucalyptus grove

Meshek Ofir belongs to Hadas and Tzvika Ofir, who grew up in farming families: they began with beehives, then planted a vineyard, and the winery started out as Yiftahel, founded with neighbours and named after the hill Alon HaGalil stands on. The visitor centre is a log cabin first built in West Virginia in 1840, brought to Israel in 1992 and raised again on the farm in 2004; in it visitors taste and buy the wines and nine kinds of honey, and its upper floor is a gallery whose art exhibitions change every three months. In the eucalyptus grove around it there are guided tours of the vineyard, the cellar and the apiary, wine with cheeses, picnic baskets and a coffee cart. Through the year it holds a Beaujolais celebration in November, a wine fair before Passover, a harvest festival in summer and a honey festival before Rosh Hashanah.
