3 HaAlonim Street, Alonei Abba, Alonei Abba

An artists' house in a Templer stone house in Alonei Abba, with a café and wine bar in its stone cellar, a gallery of local art upstairs, a second-hand shop and evenings of music and talks

Makom Hashraa was started by Shirli Barlev, a mixed-media artist, and Yifat Golan, a painter, who in 2016 rented a floor of a Templer house in Alonei Abba and filled its other rooms with artists from the Jezreel Valley; by its own account it was born in November 2018. Since March 2025 the café and wine bar in the stone cellar has been run by Bakbukim, serving fine coffee, special sandwiches and cakes, while the gallery shop of Israeli and local art has moved to the upper floor and a second-hand shop has opened in the house. It holds intimate performances, lectures and art workshops. Its site tells the house's story: built early in the twentieth century by the Templer Steib family, it later served Alonei Abba as a transit home for new families, a store, a library and, in the film Exodus, as the home of Ari Ben Canaan, the part Paul Newman played.

Sources disagree on these hours

These are the new hours its site gives for the café and wine bar; it lists no Saturday opening. The gallery upstairs keeps shorter hours, which its home page gives as 9:30 to 15:00 Sunday to Friday and its contact page as 9:00 to 14:00 on Sunday and 7:30 to 14:00 Monday to Friday, closed on Saturday. The council's tourism site still gives the older hours of 7:30 to 14:00 Monday to Friday.
