Bat Yaar Ranch was founded in 1985 by two residents of Mitzpe Amuka, Eitan Lebel and Avraham Nachmias, who started with two old railway carriages brought from Haifa and four horses; its site calls it a family-owned ranch. It sits 800 metres above sea level in the Biriya Forest, and its restaurant fills a wooden building in the style of an alpine cabin looking over the Hula Valley, the Golan, the Hermon and the hills of Lebanon, with a big wood fire in winter and country and folk music playing. The kitchen ages its own beef and pairs local Galilean dishes with American, Italian and French classics; diners can also book a private carriage for up to eight, or the enclosed Mishmish space for groups of up to 30. The ranch runs guided rides on its forest trails for riders from the age of 9, pony rides in the yard for younger children, and a farm shop of Galilee produce, and it hosts weddings and company events.
