HaKaveret visitors' centre, Beit Horon, Beit Horon

A visitors' centre for beekeeping and honey making in Beit Horon, with guided tours, beeswax candle and pita workshops, and a boutique shop of the apiary's honey and beeswax goods

HaKaveret is a visitors' centre for beekeeping and honey making in Beit Horon, looking out over the Binyamin hills. Its site says beekeeper Omri Rosner, a former soldier in an elite unit, built it from scratch with his friends. A tour brings visitors face to face with a beekeeper, a film, a glass observation hive, the beekeeper's gear and the extraction room, with workshops in rolling beeswax candles and baking pitas, and each participant takes home a jar of honey. Its boutique shop sells honey from different blossoms, honeydew, beeswax candles and soaps, honey beer and remedies made from honey and wax; its site says the honey is extracted without industrial processing, heating or additives, from bees that forage on the wild blossom of the Binyamin hills. It runs family tours, team days, visits for kindergartens and schools, tours for organised groups, and private and business events, all booked ahead.
