Chef Haim Cohen's restaurant of sea fish and seasonal vegetables, on the ground floor of the LYFE towers

MerYam is chef Haim Cohen's restaurant, opened in November 2024; its name joins the sea (yam), which supplies most of its kitchen, with the name of Cohen's mother, Miriam, who by his account cooked Kurdish, Urfali and Ashkenazi food at home. The menu centres on fresh sea fish and seasonal vegetables that come in each morning from the port and the local markets, with dishes such as bouillabaisse with a grouper kebab and noodles, chorba consommé with tortellini, Dr Eli Landau's fish salad, and fish tartare with fire-charred aubergine. The kitchen is open to the dining room, and a pastry kitchen works in full view beside it. Its own press page quotes Haaretz's critic, who wrote that here Cohen brings back the taste of an Israeli childhood and turns unfussy food into haute cuisine, and mako picked its croissant-dough bread cube, at 45 shekels, as the dish to try in Bnei Brak. It is in the lobby of the LYFE towers, which its own site places in Ramat Gan and its booking page at 5 HaYarkon Street, Bnei Brak; the towers stand inside Bnei Brak's boundary. It is open Sunday to Thursday and also hosts private and business events.
