Porat Farm, Farm 25, Ein Yahav, Ein Yahav

A family apiary in Ein Yahav with a honey shop and visitors' centre in the mornings and a hamburger bar on some evenings.

Ran Porat started the apiary in 1989 with four hives on his family's farm in Ein Yahav, a moshav his parents helped found. Its site says it now keeps about 2,000 hives between the Eilot region and Beit Shemesh, pollinates crops for hundreds of farmers and extracts its honey on the farm without heating it. The honeys are sold by flower: citrus, avocado, eucalyptus, wildflower and the Arava's tamarisk, which by the site's account won first place among special honeys at a culinary competition in June 2018; jars in the online shop start at 28 shekels. The farm also holds a bee museum opened in 2012, where thousands of metal bees hang from the ceiling, and the sculpture garden of Chacha, the founder's mother. Since 2016 the yard has turned into a bar in the evening, with burgers from the plancha, draught beer, cocktails made with honey and live music, and entry is free.

Sources disagree on these hours

The mornings are the visitors' centre and honey shop, the evenings the apiary's hamburger bar, as its contact page lists them. The foot of the same site says the shop is closed on Friday, and its bar page says the bar opens from Tuesday to Saturday night from 18:30, with Friday dinner by advance booking.
