A Yemeni bakery on Marvad HaKsamim Street in Elyakhin, where Netanel bakes jachnun, malawach, kubaneh and sabaya with smoked samneh butter

Netanel left his job in 2017 to open the bakery he had dreamed of as a child, baking the traditional Yemeni food he learned by watching his late mother knead and bake. It began in the yard of his family's home in Elyakhin and later moved to its present place at 1 Marvad HaKsamim Street. Its site lists jachnun, malawach, sabaya, lahoh, saluf and oven-baked pitas, all made with samneh, a smoked clarified butter from the Yemeni kitchen, and every pastry can be ordered in spelt flour, jachnun included. You can eat at the bakery, take frozen jachnun and pastries home to bake, or order trays for events; sabaya is made to order. Mako's food section visited in February 2024 and urged readers to drive to Elyakhin for its pastries, and its site says Haaretz and Channel 12 have covered it too.
