Clos de Gat stands among its own vineyards by Kibbutz Harel, in the foothills of the Judean Hills on the edge of the Ayalon Valley, and takes its name from an ancient winepress (gat) that its site dates to a thousand years before the Roman period, found by the house in the middle of the vines. The vineyards cover about 19 hectares of thin topsoil over limestone, and the winery makes its wines only from them, fermenting with the grapes' own natural yeasts; its listing on the council's tourism site adds that the wines settle naturally and are bottled unfiltered. The range runs to four labels, Chanson, Harel, Clos de Gat and Sycra, and its online shop sells reds, whites and a rosé, among them vintages from 2019 to 2024, with older vintages in a cellar collection. Its tasting room is open to the public by advance appointment only, with two tour and tasting options, and the winery holds an event every spring.
