Gat Shomron is a family winery owned by Anat and Lior Nachum. Lior Nachum, an electronics engineer who has lived in Karnei Shomron for more than 40 years, made wine at home for some years before founding the winery in 2002 with a neighbour, Avigdor Sharon; it made 2,000 bottles that year, later moved from a private house to an industrial area, and now makes about 35,000 a year. Its grapes come from vineyards in Samaria, the Galilee and the Ella Valley, and it makes almost only single-variety and single-vineyard wines, along with ice wine, late-harvest red and wines fermented on wild yeast; its site says three of its 24K wines won silver, gold and double gold medals at TerraVino 2019. Its visitor centre faces the landscape of Wadi Kana: a visit, by appointment, takes in the barrel room and a tasting, with cheese and pastries if wanted, and it also holds wine workshops, lectures and events, and private events of up to 200 guests in its garden. The wines go to private customers, restaurants and wine shops in Israel and abroad.
