Darb 1938 is a café in a stone house built in 1938, at the far end of Sheikh Saeed Street in the old quarter of Kaukab Abu al-Hija, next to the village's plant nursery; in Arabic it calls itself a café and meeting place. Its menu, in Arabic, Hebrew and English, opens with breakfasts, from manakish made to a grandmother's recipe to the Arabsta breakfast for two with labneh, olives, cheeses, aubergine, honey and manakish. It goes on to sandwiches, tabbouleh and fattoush, fried kubbeh and arayes, pasta, pizza, grilled salmon and seafood, with espresso drinks, sahlab, fresh juices, mocktails and croissants. It opens every day except Tuesday from 9 in the morning to 10 at night, Friday and Saturday included, and on Thursdays the second pizza is half price.
