The old cowshed compound at the entrance to Kibbutz Kiryat Anavim, Kiryat Anavim

A restaurant and bar in the restored 1921 cowshed at the entrance to Kibbutz Kiryat Anavim, named after its owners' grandmother

Muma is a restaurant, bar and events space in the old cowshed of Kibbutz Kiryat Anavim, a listed Jerusalem-stone building put up by the kibbutz's pioneers in 1921, which its owners found abandoned and restored by hand. It is named after their grandmother Leah Abushdid, called Muma, the wife of Itamar Ben-Avi, son of Eliezer Ben-Yehuda; born in Jerusalem in 1896, she was the family's cook, and some of her recipes are on the menu. The kitchen serves a Mediterranean chef's bistro menu with a drinks list that leans on boutique wineries of the Jerusalem hills, and it is known for its kubaneh, a Yemenite brioche it also sells at its kubaneh shop in Tel Aviv. The room has a central bar, long tables by fireplaces, a lounge and a large balcony facing the hills, musicians play in the yard, and guests must be 12 or older.
