Kibbutz Lavi Hotel belongs to Lavi, a religious kibbutz founded in 1949 by young members of the Bachad religious pioneer movement from England, many of whom had reached Britain as children on the Kindertransport. It stands 310 m above sea level, about ten minutes from Tiberias, looking east to the Sea of Galilee and the Horns of Hattin and west to Mount Tabor, and keeps a religious atmosphere, with two synagogues, mehadrin kosher meals and a dress code in the dining room. Guests have an indoor heated pool open all year with separate and mixed family hours, closed on Shabbat and holidays, a toddlers' pool in season, a dry sauna, a gym, sports courts and bicycles for hire, a kids' club, a playground and walks to the kibbutz's open cowshed and goat corner. A lobby bar serves drinks, light meals, ice cream, beer, wine and cocktails, and the hotel holds conferences and family celebrations in its halls; the kibbutz also farms and makes synagogue furniture and Torah arks.
