Meishar Winery is a family boutique winery founded in 1990 by Haya and Ze'ev Smilansky in the heart of Moshav Meishar. The family grows its grapes in the vineyard beside the family home, by an approach its site calls natural and respectful, and does every stage itself, from the vineyard to the bottle. In season, weather permitting, it opens on Saturdays for tastings with a talk on the vineyard, the winemaking and the family's story, served with cheese platters, bread, dips and produce from its vegetable garden, for a token fee and by booking only. It also hosts private events of up to 50 guests in the open air, with a vegetarian menu planned for each and its wines poured without limit, and it holds exhibitions of local artists, poetry evenings, readings and film screenings beside sculptures made from vine prunings.
