Migdal Junction compound, Route 90, Migdal

A Galilean chef's restaurant in the Migdal Junction compound on Route 90, near ancient Magdala, led by chef Yousef (Zuzu) Hanna

Magdalena is chef Yousef (Zuzu) Hanna's restaurant in the Migdal Junction compound on Route 90, and its site calls its cooking authentic Galilean. The menu runs from raw lamb kubbeh, shishbarak in goat's yoghurt and a Magdalena-style tabbouleh to Fakhr el-Din kebab, Galilee lamb chops with smoked freekeh and pan-fried sea bass, with knafeh of Akkawi cheese among the desserts, and there is an eight-course Galilean tasting menu for the whole table at 365 shekels a diner. Its site says the view takes in Mount Arbel, the Golan Heights and the Sea of Galilee. It opens every day of the week for lunch and dinner, takes table bookings through Tabit and keeps a separate wine list. It is named for ancient Magdala, the birthplace of Mary Magdalene, whose excavated synagogue lies close by.
