The heart of Mi'ilya village, Mi'ilya

A family boutique winery in the heart of Mi'ilya that makes its wine from unirrigated Galilee vineyards and hosts tastings with local cheese

Julia Winery is a family winery founded in 2012 by George Arraf, an agronomist, and his son Anan, a chemical engineer who left industry for vines and wine; it is named after Julia, George's wife and the mother of the family. The family planted its first vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon, in 2009 on a slope among old olive trees and oak woods, and it still grows without irrigation; two more vineyards of Viognier, Syrah and Cabernet Franc were planted in 2022 on Mi'ilya's upper hills, and grapes also come from Bir'im and Kerem Ben Zimra in the Upper Galilee. It makes about 15,000 bottles a year of red, white, rosé and orange wine, and every summer the family gathers from near and abroad for the harvest, picked by hand by family and friends. A visit usually means a short tour of the barrel room, a meeting with the winemaker and a tasting beside a plate of local cheeses, for couples, families and groups of up to 40. The winery also sells its own olive oil and olives, cheeses from a local dairy and wine accessories.
