10 Derech Mishmeret, Mishmeret

A winery in moshav Mishmeret, named after Lord Mond of nearby Tel Mond, that opens on Thursday evenings and Fridays for free tastings of its wines with a dairy buffet.

Mond Winery was founded in 2004 in moshav Mishmeret and is named after Lord Mond, Alfred Mond, the benefactor of nearby Tel Mond. Its site says it makes close to 10,000 bottles a year, white, rosé, red and a port-style dessert wine, from 24 dunams of vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Shiraz, Petite Sirah, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Muscat of Alexandria and Gewürztraminer, and that its wines have won medals in international competitions. On Thursday evenings and Fridays the bar is open for a free tasting of eight wines, with an unlimited dairy buffet of hard cheeses, salads, country breads, pastries, and pizzas and focaccias from the taboon. The council's tourism site adds that it began hosting in 2021, that the name was given with the Mond family's blessing, and that the winemaker and chef, Herzl Keren, greets the guests himself among the citrus trees beside the vineyard.
