Tamar VaGefen is the home business of Tami and Yaron Cohen in Mitzpe Hila: three suites for couples beside their house, in a Mediterranean style of local stone, arched ceilings and pale plaster, looking onto an oak forest, with a boutique winery in the cellar. Each suite opens through wide doors onto a private inner yard with a wooden deck and a jacuzzi. The winery has been working for about fifteen years and makes limited editions, most of them from Tempranillo grapes; most of the grapes grow in the vineyard in Mitzpe Hila, facing the Montfort, and a smaller part comes from the Golan Heights. Yaron, a graduate of the winemaking course at Tel-Hai College, shows guests how the wine is made. Breakfasts are made in the house and ordered at extra cost.

Each suite has an adjustable double bed, white cotton sheets, robes and slippers, a kitchenette with an espresso machine, a 42-inch television, Wi-Fi and home-made refreshments with a bottle of the house wine. Midweek, one night (Sunday to Tuesday only) costs 1,200 shekels and two nights 2,200; at weekends and holidays the minimum is two nights, at 2,400, and three nights cost 3,400; in July and August weekend prices apply all week. Breakfast for two adds 200 shekels.
