Mitzpe Netofa, Mitzpe Netofa

A winery founded in 2006 in Mitzpe Netofa, in the Lower Galilee, whose visitor centre pours guided tastings of its Mediterranean-variety wines and serves seasonal dishes in a courtyard among pines

Netofa Winery was founded in 2006, and its site says its vineyards lie at the foot of Mount Tabor in the heart of the Lower Galilee, planted with Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Tempranillo, Touriga Nacional, Chenin Blanc and Roussanne. Its wines are made by Pierre Miodownick, who spent many years making wine in France, Spain and Portugal, with Yitzhak Tur, who, in its words, lives and breathes the vineyards. The visitor centre in Mitzpe Netofa offers guided tastings of three or five wines at 70 to 130 shekels, wine workshops and celebrations, and a seasonal menu built with chef Yaniv Gur Arie and served in a small courtyard among pine trees, with some dishes made vegan on request. The visitor centre holds a kosher certificate and closes on Saturdays. Its labels include the Latour, Tel Qasser, Mas'ei, Mitzpen and Dor series, and Portuguese-style fortified wines such as an LBV and a Tawny.
