A sourdough bakery in Kibbutz Na'an's restored historic bakery building, reopened in 2017 by Gil (Jillbert) Tene and Shai Sol
Jillbert Bakery has worked in Kibbutz Na'an since 2017, making sourdough breads and rolls by hand and baking them fresh every day, along with pastries, challahs, cakes and more. It works in a restored historic building that was the kibbutz bakery from the late 1920s until the 1970s, when the kibbutz's baker, Yankale Topor, retired; for four decades the stone oven and the building stood empty, until the couple Gil (Jillbert) Tene and Shai Sol reopened it in 2017 to bring back the smells and tastes of traditional sourdough bread and to keep the old building and its stone oven. The kibbutz's tourism site points visitors to the playground opposite the bakery and a pergola that looks over it, in the centre of the kibbutz.
