HaShaked Street, Neve Yarak, Neve Yarak

A family winery on HaShaked Street in Moshav Neve Yarak, founded in 2015 by a third-generation farmer, with a Thursday-night wine bar and weekend tastings among its barrels

Neve Yarak Winery was founded at the start of 2015 by Momo Shmilovitz, the third generation of a farming family that was among the moshav's founders, and its site says it specialises in wines from Carignan, Grenache and Syrah grapes grown in the family's mature vineyards in Neve Yarak. Its oldest plots are Carignan vines planted in 1981, rehabilitated from 2015 and farmed without irrigation, and in 2017 a further 14-dunam vineyard was planted with Carignan, Grenache and Marselan; the site puts its output at about 40,000 bottles a year. Tastings of five wines, about two hours long, are held inside the winery among the barrels and steel tanks on Fridays and Saturdays, and on Thursday evenings it opens a wine bar with all its wines by the glass. Both come with a menu of breads and dips, cheese and charcuterie platters, salads and desserts, with vegan and gluten-free options.
