Nir Etzion Hotel belongs to the religious cooperative moshav Nir Etzion, whose founders opened a rest home on the spot in 1950; it later became a convalescent home, then a guest house, and is now a resort of 142 rooms 234 m up the Carmel, above the Ein Hod artists' village and beside a nature reserve. Its restaurant seats about 400 and serves three meals a day facing the forest and the sea, and the lobby bar has a dairy menu. Guests have a half-Olympic indoor pool heated all year, with separate swimming hours, a sauna, a gym, massages, a playroom, a petting corner and guided tours of the moshav's farm. It is built for religious and Haredi guests, with a synagogue, Shabbat lifts, a central Shabbat clock and a men's mikveh, and it also runs a conference and events centre.
