Nitzana Youth Village, Nitzana
The guiding and hospitality centre of the Nitzana youth village, at the far end of Route 211, with shared tents for groups of up to 120, six private desert cabins and a hostel for groups.
Khan Nitzana is the guiding and hospitality centre of Nitzana, an educational community of the Jewish Agency founded in 1986 by Arie Lova Eliav, where young people, adults and families from across Israeli society live and learn together. It puts up hikers, families, school groups and retreats in large shared tents, in six desert cabins with their own showers and in a 20-room hostel for groups, and guests cook in the khan's shared kitchens and around their own fire pits. Its guides lead tours of Nitzana's educational farm and greenhouses and of a rescue farm for farm animals, walks and bike rides past Tel Nitzana, the Brigade 8 memorial and Dani Karavan's peace sculpture, animal tracking, night astronomy and foraging with cooking over a fire, and it hands out three easy self-guided family walks: the Nitzana cave, Tel Nitzana and the white chalk hills of Hamukei Nitzana.

Khan tents

Eight tents named after constellations: the Great Bear for a group of up to 120, Cassiopeia and the Little Bear for up to 40 each, the Nebula for up to 30, and Cepheus, Perseus, Pegasus and Andromeda for up to 20 each. Each has mattresses and mats, heating, lighting, power and charging points, with a fire pit and a barbecue outside; showers and toilets, with hot water in winter too, are in two shared blocks.
Desert cabins
6 rooms · Sleeps up to 5
Cabins for couples, families and small groups, each with its own shower and toilet, beds, a fridge, air conditioning and a coffee corner, and outside a barbecue, a fire circle and a private lounging corner; guests share the khan's kitchen.
Hostel rooms
20 rooms · Sleeps up to 6
Plain rooms for groups in a separate compound in the heart of the youth village, each with six beds, its own shower and toilet, central air conditioning and a mini fridge.
Guests cook for themselves in two shared kitchens with gas hobs, large fridges and a barbecue, all the water on site is drinkable, firewood is sold on the spot, and music from sound systems is not allowed anywhere in the lodging area.
