A farm-to-table meat restaurant in Moshav Ramot above the Sea of Galilee, grilling aged beef from the Schneider family's Golan herd over charcoal

Its site says Moshbutz is a culinary institution whose essence is Golan localness: the people behind it are farmers who grow vegetables and fruit on their own farm, Meshek Regev in Ma'ale Gamla, and buy the rest from neighbours and Israeli growers, and the home page counts 19 years of the restaurant. Erez and Yael Regev, its owners, began growing the restaurant's vegetables on the farm in 2016. Most of the beef it serves comes from the Schneider family's herd, raised on the open pastures of the Golan Heights without preventive antibiotics or growth promoters, and the cuts, which change daily so that the whole animal is used, are grilled over quebracho blanco charcoal. The menu runs from focaccia out of the taboon and a veal carpaccio to the classic 220 g hamburger, kebabs, trout from the Dan stream and steaks. The restaurant's shop sells wines from Golan wineries, beers from the Bazelet brewery in Katzrin, chocolate, honey, olive oil and cuts from the Moshbutz and Schneider farm butchery. The name is the word for the first form of settlement on the Golan, a blend of moshav and kibbutz.
