Mendi's Bagels is the dairy side of Beit Mendi's, the house of Jewish food whose meat restaurant, Bashert, stands 50 metres away on the same street. Its counter fills American bagels with cream cheeses, tuna, egg salad, omelette or smoked salmon and up to four vegetables, and the kitchen adds soups that change daily, pastas, salads built from a long list of raw vegetables and a boiling, spicy shakshuka. Breakfasts are served all day, and the sweet side runs from blintzes and baked cheesecake to Belgian waffles, milkshakes and ice cream. Coffee comes in three sizes, with soy, almond or oat milk for a small extra charge.
