70 Sderat HaIkarim, Moshav Sgula, Sgula

The first of the Cramim restaurants, opened in 2002 at the entrance to Moshav Sgula, with chef Sahar Rafael's dry-aged meats, vegetables from the moshav's greenhouses and wine from its own vineyard

Cramim opened in 2002 in Moshav Sgula, north of Kiryat Gat, when restaurateur and wine man Dani Peretz and chef Sahar Rafael set out to bring a culture of hosting good food to the south; it was the first of the group, which has since opened restaurants in Be'er Sheva and Rehovot. The kitchen pairs classic French cooking with Mediterranean and Iraqi flavours, using vegetables from Sgula's greenhouses, olive oil from the restaurants' groves along Road 40 and wine from their own vineyard at farm 54 in the moshav. Meat is dry-aged for 20 to 35 days in the restaurant's own ageing fridge, and the desserts are made from dawn in its own patisserie. The room is a warm country house, with a private room for events of up to 30 guests, ample parking and full wheelchair access.
