Hermon River Winery is a boutique winery that the winemaker Michel Elharar, a farmer, founded in 2003 in the middle of Moshav She'ar Yashuv. By his own account he began it as a hobby after watching French farmers make wine in the simplest way, studied wine at Tel Hai for a year and a half and worked for a year at the Alexander winery in Beit Yitzhak; he first made wine in a shelter, then built the visitor centre, which is also the winery, on the ruins of an old cowshed that had belonged to his wife's parents. It makes dry red varietal wines and blends, which on its site include the Nevo 2022 Cabernet Franc, the Or Merlot, the Ofir Cabernet Sauvignon, the Vera 2022 Shiraz and the Aviya blend, and a limoncello. The visitor centre holds tastings and sales and can host meals, gatherings, lectures and wine workshops, and visits are arranged ahead by phone.
