A dirt road off the road to the Neve Midbar spa, 2 km along Road 222 from the Mashabei Sadeh junction, Shezaf

Five hand-built mud huts spread over 24 dunams of untouched dunes at the edge of the Mashabim Dunes nature reserve, about a kilometre west of Shezaf.

Makman Dunes is a privately owned, secluded ecological lodge on 24 dunams at the foot of the dunes, at the edge of the Mashabim Dunes nature reserve and beside the Ottoman road to Nitzana, about 20 minutes south of Beersheba. Its five huts are built of mud by hand, dome-shaped to blend with the dunes, and spread far apart for space, quiet and privacy; each is named for a creature or plant of the desert, and groups can take a large airy tent instead. Breakfasts are made to order in its home kitchen: home-baked bread, a chopped salad, jams and cheeses from the neighbours' dairy and eggs to order, 60 shekels an adult and 40 a child, booked in advance. Its site says the name comes from the Arabic word for a place, and that the Bedouin call it Amkiman, a small ambush spot where travellers were waylaid at the bend of the wadi in Ottoman times. The lodge also hosts yoga retreats, the latest in April 2026.
