Havat Ela is a family farm raising an organic herd of goats for milk and cheese, on the south-eastern foothills of the Judean Shephelah, beside Route 358 between Kibbutz Lahav and Moshav Lakhish. Its site says the goats are local breeds that graze the natural pasture all year, on fresh green grass in winter and spring and on the area's perennial aromatic plants in summer, which it credits for the taste of its milk and cheeses. The family dairy makes goat yogurt and a range of semi-hard and hard cheeses by traditional methods, from whole fresh goat milk with no preservatives or additives. Its cheese shop on the farm sells the organic goat cheeses with honey, olive oil and olives, and the site invites visitors to come and takes orders by phone.
