88 Netiv HaZayit, Yanuv

A smokehouse restaurant in the centre of moshav Yanuv that smokes Israeli meat over pecan wood and serves it as shared feasts at set seatings.

Ziv Roder started out smoking meat in a mobile smoker and, after years on the road, settled in the centre of moshav Yanuv; its menu page names him as chef and owner. Every morning the smoker is lit with pecan wood, and cuts and vegetables go in through the day, timed to be ready for the seating. In the evening there is no à la carte: the table chooses a feast of four, five or seven cuts, served to the middle of the table to share, with unlimited sides such as smoked vegetables, garlic confit rice, cowboy stew and herb tea from its garden. At lunch, Sunday to Thursday, it serves a lighter menu of smoked meats, and it also hosts private events and courtyard parties. The council's tourism site adds that the meat, the drinks at its bar and the vegetables are all local, and that it has an indoor room and a shaded courtyard.
