IDF says troops killed two men who crossed Gaza's Yellow Line on Friday
The Israeli military reported two separate incidents in northern and southern Gaza, a sign of continuing friction along the line its forces hold under the ceasefire agreement.

Israeli troops killed two people they identified as terrorists after each crossed the Yellow Line inside the Gaza Strip on Friday, according to a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson. The military said the shootings happened in two separate incidents, one in the northern part of the territory and one in the southern part.
The IDF said its forces spotted the two men after they had crossed the line and then killed them. The statement added that troops from the military's Southern Command remain positioned in the area "in accordance with the agreement" and will keep acting to "remove any immediate threat." Israeli broadcaster N12 carried the same account shortly afterward, with its military correspondent Nir Dvori reporting that the army had killed two terrorists who crossed the line in the north and south of the Strip in separate events.
What the Yellow Line is
The Yellow Line is the name used in Israel for the demarcation line inside Gaza to which Israeli forces pulled back under the ceasefire arrangement with Hamas. Israeli troops hold positions on one side of it, while the rest of the territory lies beyond it. The IDF statement's reference to "the agreement" points to that arrangement, under which Israeli forces stay deployed along the line rather than withdrawing from Gaza entirely.
Because the line runs through areas where Palestinians live and move, the military has repeatedly reported incidents in which people approach or cross it. The IDF's position, as set out again in this statement, is that its troops will act against anyone they judge to pose an immediate threat near the line.
Who is involved
The Southern Command is one of the IDF's regional commands. It is responsible for military operations along Israel's southern frontiers, including the Gaza Strip, and its units are the ones deployed along the Yellow Line. The IDF spokesperson's unit is the military's official channel for announcing operations and incidents, and its statements are often the first, and sometimes the only, public account of events inside Gaza.

N12 is the news division of one of Israel's main commercial television broadcasters. Nir Dvori covers military affairs for the outlet. His report on this event matched the IDF's version and did not add details beyond it.
How the accounts compare
The two reports agree on the core facts: two people killed, two separate incidents, one in northern Gaza and one in southern Gaza, both after crossing the Yellow Line. Both describe the dead as terrorists. The N12 report appears to rely on the military's statement, since it was published within minutes of the IDF's announcement and contains no independent information. Readers should therefore treat this as a single account, the IDF's, relayed by a second outlet rather than confirmed by it.

What the reports do not say
Neither report identifies the two people who were killed, gives their ages, or names any organisation they belonged to. The IDF does not explain what led troops to classify them as terrorists, whether they were armed, or what they were doing when they crossed the line.
The statement does not give exact locations beyond northern and southern Gaza, the time of each incident, or whether troops issued warnings before opening fire. It does not say whether any Israeli soldiers were hurt.
No response from Hamas, Palestinian health authorities or residents of Gaza appears in the material, and there is no independent account of either incident. The reports also do not say whether the incidents were raised with the parties or mediators involved in the ceasefire arrangement.

How we checked this
The event was reported by the IDF spokesperson and by N12, but N12's report repeats the military's account and adds no independent detail, so the description of the incidents and of those killed rests on the IDF alone. We have not independently verified the incidents.
