A man of about 35 was killed in a collision between a truck and a private car on Route 465 near the village of Aboud, according to Magen David Adom, Israel's national emergency medical service. The service said its Jerusalem region dispatch centre received the call on its 101 emergency line at 22:32, and that its medics and paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene with injuries to multiple parts of his body.

Two other people were treated, Magen David Adom said: a man of about 30 in moderate condition with bodily injuries, and a second casualty with mild injuries. Both were taken to hospital by the Red Crescent. N12 reported that police have opened an investigation into how the fatal crash happened, and that the stretch of Route 465 between Ofarim junction and Aboud was closed to traffic in both directions.

Where the crash happened

Route 465 is a road in the West Bank, the territory Israeli authorities and media refer to as Judea and Samaria. Ynet's alert on the crash placed it in Judea and Samaria, using the common Hebrew shorthand for the area. Aboud is a Palestinian village, and Ofarim junction, the other end of the closed section named by N12, takes its name from the nearby Israeli community of Ofarim. Roads like this one are used by both Israeli and Palestinian traffic, and emergency responses in the area can involve both Israeli and Palestinian services.

Who responded

Magen David Adom, often abbreviated MDA, is Israel's equivalent of a national ambulance and paramedic service and a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Calls reach it through the 101 emergency number, and its dispatch is organised by region; this call was handled by the Jerusalem region. In this incident, MDA's statement says its own crews determined the death and gave medical treatment to the wounded, while the evacuation to hospital was carried out by the Red Crescent. The statement does not name the hospital or hospitals the two injured people were taken to.

Police are the body that investigates the causes of road crashes in Israel, and N12 reported that such an investigation has begun. The closure of the road in both directions is a standard step while investigators work at the scene of a fatal collision.

How the reports line up

The three reports, all published as short alerts on the messaging service Telegram, agree on the basic facts: a man died, the collision involved a truck and a private car, and it took place on Route 465. MDA and N12 both locate the crash close to Aboud. MDA gives the most detail, including the approximate ages of the dead man and the more seriously injured casualty and the time the call came in. Ynet's alert confirms that a man was killed and that a truck and a private car were involved, without further detail. N12 adds the police investigation and the road closure, information that does not appear in the other two reports.

There is no disagreement between the sources on the facts each of them reports. They differ only in how much they say.

What the reports do not say

None of the reports names the man who was killed or the two people who were injured, and none says whether he was driving or travelling in either vehicle. They do not say which of the injured was in the truck and which was in the car, nor whether the truck driver was among the casualties.

The reports give no account of how the collision happened, whether one vehicle crossed into the path of the other, or what the road and weather conditions were. The cause is the subject of the police investigation reported by N12, and no finding has been published.

The reports also do not say how long Route 465 was expected to remain closed, which hospital received the wounded, or whether the condition of the man in moderate condition has since changed. Ynet's alert linked to a fuller report that is not part of the material available to us.
