Beit Elfarasha

בית אלפראשה

Guest house · No kosher certificate

49 HaBahaim Street, Old City, Acre

A house for Acre home cooking in a restored Ottoman building of the Old City, where local women lead workshops, with two guest suites and a rooftop facing the sea

Beit Elfarasha opened in December 2020 in a renovated Ottoman building of more than 200 years, with remnants from the Crusader period, in an alley in the heart of Old Acre a minute's walk from the ancient sea wall. Cathy Raff, involved in the Old City since 2009, founded it as a place inspired by women and for women, where local women share their native cuisine with visitors from Israel and abroad. The ground floor holds the kitchen where the workshops are held and a living room for cultural events, the first floor two guest suites, and the top floor a rooftop terrace facing the sea. Its workshops run about four hours around dishes such as maqluba, mahashi and sheikh el mahshi, and morning workshops begin, weather permitting, with a walk through the market.
