Kibbutz Ein Gedi, Ein Gedi

The kibbutz hotel at Ein Gedi: 166 rooms of one and two storeys scattered through the kibbutz's botanical garden, between the Judean Desert cliffs and the Dead Sea, with the Synergy wellness spa

The Ein Gedi Hotel grew out of the kibbutz guest house, which began when a kibbutz member moved two wooden huts onto the hill for guests drawn by the Dead Sea, the first of them seven women from Rehovot. Its list of managers starts in 1961, and it became a hotel in 2012, when the boutique wing and the spa were built. Today it has 166 rooms in low buildings spread among the gardens, lawns and old baobab trees of the kibbutz's botanical garden, above Nahal Arugot. The Synergy wellness spa has a heated indoor pool of Dead Sea water, an outdoor freshwater pool, a dry sauna, a Turkish hammam and 12 treatment rooms, for guests aged 16 and over. Breakfast and dinner are buffets in the hotel restaurant, the dairy Bao-Bar in the lobby serves through the day, and a kosher meat food truck, Humibaba, is named after a leopard that lived in the reserve. There is an open pool with a children's pool in summer and the kibbutz's heated covered pool in winter, a synagogue beside the lobby, a shop, and a free programme of guided walks for guests.
