Chef Dan Zoertz's restaurant in a restored stone house above the Ein Hod amphitheatre, cooking Middle Eastern dishes from Carmel coast fish and herbs foraged on the mountain

Peigam sits on Mount Carmel above the Ein Hod amphitheatre, in a historic stone house that was renovated and furnished by hand, looking out to the Mediterranean. Its site says the kitchen, led by chef Dan Zoertz, is built on local produce such as fish and seafood from the Carmel coast and seasonal foraging from the mountain, and that the dishes carry unusual Middle Eastern flavours. A local wine list and a list of anise spirits from the countries of the region go with the food. The sample menu opens with mezze by the four, six or eight and moves on to fish, lamb kebab and chicken on a mahleb pita. It serves lunch and dinner on Wednesday and Thursday and stays open through the day on Friday and Saturday. It also hosts events, and for groups it pairs a meal with art workshops in the village.
