The Colony Hotel Haifa is a boutique hotel on Ben Gurion Avenue in the German Colony, in a stone building that the Templers put up in 1905 and that was then called the Appinger Hotel, after the family that built it. Its site says the building worked as a hotel until 1978, was bought in December 2006 and was restored under the Haifa municipality's conservation unit, keeping the painted floor tiles, the wooden banisters and the wooden shutters. Guests have a dining room where an Israeli breakfast is served, a roof terrace with sunbeds that looks over the Baha'i Gardens and the bay, a garden with seating, a meeting room and a treatment room for massages. The site puts the lower entrance to the Baha'i Gardens about 400 metres away and the Haifa Merkaz HaShmona railway station close by, and the hotel is kosher, on the Haifa religious council's list.
