Jacobs Cheeses Agadat Lechem

Deli or food maker · Café · Bakery · Hefer Valley religious council; cheeses under Badatz Hatam Sofer, Petah Tikva

HaRav Yisraeli Street, Kfar HaRoeh, Kfar Haroeh

A cheese and bread shop with a café on the Jacobs family's dairy farm in Kfar HaRoeh, selling the farm's own cheeses and Agadat Lechem's sourdough loaves

The shop and café are a partnership between the Jacobs family, dairy farmers and cheesemakers in Kfar HaRoeh, and the sisters Nivi and Shani Tabenkin, who opened the Agadat Lechem bakery next to the dairy. The Jacobs family came to Kfar HaRoeh in 1936, and in 1997 the third generation built a dairy beside the cowshed, which now makes about 25 cheeses from cow's, goat's and sheep's milk, hard, semi-hard, white-rind and soft, as well as yoghurts. Agadat Lechem bakes hand-made sourdough loaves in a traditional stone oven. The shop sells the cheeses, breads, cakes, pastries and quiches with wine, spreads, jams and olives, and the self-service café makes sandwiches on the bakery's bread with the farm's cheeses, salads and cheese boards, with seats in the air-conditioned entrance hall and outside. It also runs cooking and baking workshops and makes platters for events.
