A family boutique winery in Kiryat Tiv'on that opens its courtyard for tastings at weekends
Simon Winery began in 2010 in the cellar of the Simon family's home in Tiv'on, after Zeevi Simon toured wineries in France, Italy and Spain and trained under Nir Shaham at Soreq Winery. Its grapes are picked by hand in vineyards at Amikam, the Golan Heights, Ramot Naftali and Kerem Ben Zimra, and the wine ages for 12 months in French oak barrels; the winery makes about 10,000 bottles a year. On Fridays and Saturdays it takes bookings for its courtyard, with a tasting of five wines and 20 shekels back on a bottle bought there, and a short menu of ciabatta with dips, cheese and sausage platters and quiche. Groups come by arrangement, and its wines are sold online, with free delivery from Tel Aviv to Acre on orders over 300 shekels.
