A family olive grove and farm shop in Moshav Kokhav Michael that presses its own extra virgin olive oil and cures its own olives
HaZait 43 is a family olive grove on a farm in Moshav Kokhav Michael, planted in April 2011 as a family project. Its site says the grove has about 600 trees: 360 Barnea, the Israeli variety, 120 Spanish Picual and 120 French Picholine, and that the family makes extra virgin olive oil from each variety, black olives cured for four to six weeks in coarse salt in cloth bags, and green Picholine olives cracked and pickled with garlic, pepper and lemons. It puts together gift boxes of its oils and olives with ceramics made in its own studio and other local farmers' wine, honey, soap and chocolate, and the farm has seating and hosting corners. The council's tourism site describes a visitors' centre with a short film and an olive-oil tasting by arrangement, and a shop open all week.
