This is the Lod branch of Hummus Eliyahu, a chain of 57 hummus restaurants that grew from Eliyahu Shmueli's search for the perfect hummus, begun in 2008, and the small hummus place he first opened in Yokneam. By the chain's own account, Israeli chickpeas are cooked every day and ground in front of the customers with its own tahini, Israeli olive oil and spices, and served with Yemenite pita, onion, pickles, tomato and hot pepper. Refills of hummus and lemonade are free, and the meal ends with coffee and a small sweet. The branch is at 3 Rabbi Eliezer Ben Horkanos Street in the northern industrial zone and opens Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 to 16:00 and on Friday until 14:30.
