A hand-built rammed-earth villa for up to ten guests at Midreshet Ben-Gurion, facing Nahal Havarim and the Zin desert, with a shaded paddling pool in the yard

Villa Adama is a boutique villa at Midreshet Ben-Gurion, facing Nahal Havarim and the Zin desert, built by hand over about two years by Roni Halevi and Tom Elkalai in rammed earth, an old method in which about 200 tonnes of earth were pounded into its walls and floors to keep the inside cool in summer and warm in winter. It takes families, couples and groups of up to ten, in two double bedrooms with their own bathrooms and a children's room, all on one level, and its site says it is accessible to wheelchair users. In the yard there are a shaded paddling pool in summer, a charcoal grill corner and a children's playground, and the furniture was made from wood left over from the building. Guests can order meals, workshops in earth building and ancient crafts, massages and guided walks.
