A dirt road off Road 40, one kilometre south of the Tziporim junction, Sde Boker

A family farm winery in a wadi off Road 40 south of Sde Boker, with a visitors' cellar, the Mona café and 14 adults-only cabins beside the vines.

Hana and Eyal Yizrael founded Carmey Avdat in 1998 as part of the Negev's Wine Route, in a wadi with the terraces of an ancient farm; the vineyard was planted on those terraces in the summer of 1999 and the family winery was built in 2005. Six grape varieties grow there, the winery makes about 5,000 bottles a year, sold only at the farm, and its story page says it went on to become the first winery run on solar power. A wine cellar and visitors' centre showing ancient clay jars from Avdat opened in June 2021 together with the artists' village and Café Mona, which serves breakfasts, salads, quiches, pizzas, hot sandwiches, cheese platters and the farm's wines beside the farm square. The 14 guest units take adults from the age of 16, with breakfast and a carafe of house wine included. The farm treats its own waste water in a system developed with Ben-Gurion University's water institute and makes about half its electricity from the sun.
