The Sde Boker Field School was founded in the 1960s in the spirit of David Ben-Gurion and belongs to Midreshet Sde Boker; it stands in Midreshet Ben-Gurion above Nahal Zin and the Zin valley. It works in two fields: guiding and education, from youth clubs and day tours to trekking and summer camps, and desert tourism and hospitality for groups and individuals, from schools and youth from abroad to families. Its rooms range from Hamburg doubles to hexagon rooms for six, and its site lists climbing routes, a desert climbing wall, a dining room and a large shaded pool with lawns and a snack bar on the Midrasha's grounds; the pool, open from May to October, is free for its guests. Its information centre helps guests plan their own hikes, and trails such as Nahal Karkash, the ridge called the Lost City and Ein Avdat start nearby; it also leads full-moon walks in Nahal Havarim.
