24 Street 6126, Latin Quarter, Nazareth

A guest house in an old Nazareth family home in the Latin Quarter, beside the Mensa Christi church, with a rooftop deck over the city

Mensa Christi Hotel stands in the Latin Quarter, one of Nazareth's oldest neighbourhoods, on Al-Nabaa Street west of the old market, next to the Mensa Christi church that the Franciscans built in 1861, whose red terracotta dome can be seen from its balcony and roof. Its site says the house was a family home built in several periods, its oldest rooms, al-Aqd, al-Babour and al-Anbuba, which guests call the cave, from the 19th century; the owners renovated it from 2014 to 2016 and opened it on 7 November 2016. It is built around a large central salon, with a panoramic balcony, a rooftop deck that looks as far as the Gilboa hills, a domed stone room used for small meetings and a garden of citrus trees at the entrance. The market is about three minutes' walk away and the Basilica of the Annunciation about five, and guided tours and airport taxis can be booked ahead.
