Farm 46, Moshav Neve Michael, Neve Michael

A family boutique winery founded in 2012 on a farm in Moshav Neve Michael, pouring its Elah Valley wines in a visitor centre that faces the valley

Roglit Winery was founded in 2012 by a family that left the city for farming, and began, by its own account, with a single barrel of home wine. In 2016 it planted its first vineyard, and it now tends 50 dunams of vines in the Elah Valley in nine varieties: Malbec, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Chenin Blanc, Roussanne and red Grenache. Yishai, the chief vine grower, runs the vineyards and the harvest, and Sharon, the chief winemaker, leads the production; the grapes are picked by hand in the early morning, and some wines age about nine months in French oak. The winery sits in a cellar built in the 1950s in the yard of the house, and its visitor centre seats guests facing the valley for a classic tasting of four wines with a platter of cheeses, breads and vegetables, 45 minutes to an hour at 120 shekels a person, or for wine by the glass or the bottle with a platter of their choice. Its name comes from an ancient way of growing vines low along the ground, which the Book of Ezekiel describes.
