Tal Farm, Karmei Yosef, Pedaya

A family boutique winery on the Tal family farm by Karmei Yosef, at the foot of Tel Gezer, open for free tastings at weekends

Red Poetry is a family boutique winery on Tal Farm by Karmei Yosef, where the family grows wine grapes, table grapes and many summer fruits. Its winemaker, Dubi Tal, is a third-generation vine grower: his forebears were among the founders of Rehovot and planted wine grapes around Karmei Yosef in the 1950s, and his father, Alex Tal, owned the Carmia winery at Mikveh Israel. The vineyards grow on rocky chalk soil at the foot of Tel Gezer, with little water and low yields. The winery is known for its reds, mostly blends such as Sharona (Cabernet Franc with Merlot), Aharonson (Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah) and Capriotti (Sangiovese with Merlot), alongside single varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Tempranillo and Barbera, aged about a year and a half in French oak; it also makes light whites and a pink summer wine. Every weekend visitors can come for a free tasting on the farm, and it delivers free in the Gush Dan area on orders of more than 12 bottles.
