Mako's guide to Sderot of June 2026 lists Cafe Hilly as an Italian dairy restaurant and bakery. Ella Pinhasov, a pastry chef born in the city, and her husband, both 25 at the time, opened it a year before the piece, in the square with the memorial sculpture. A display case of pastries stands at the entrance, and the menu has very large breakfasts, pastas and pizzas, croissant sandwiches and loaded burekas. "If I, born in Sderot, don't open a business here, who will?" Pinhasov told Mako.
